This photo caught my eye yesterday, and I totally agree with you. Besides being beautiful, pure, comfortable, and sexy, this woman made me think of a number I haven't thought about for a long time. Okay, I confess (sheepishly): I'm an engineer, and the number I'm thinking of is 0.7. I wonder how many of you know to what that refers.
Talking about numbers as they relate to our bodies, or the forms of others that we find "interesting," is a tricky business. If one says, for example, "a woman with a long nape (the back of the neck that in Japan is thought to be especially beautiful and sexy) is hot," then women with short napes might feel inadequate.
If one can believe the media, however, men take the cake for inadequacy by the numbers, so I won't feel too bad talking about 0.7.
This number, for a woman, is thought to be the most attractive ratio of waist to hips (for a man the ideal ratio is 0.9). Here is a link to a Wikipedia article about this. The article contains references to studies, some of which seem authoritative.

When thinking about the photo we are commenting on I wondered what it was that made this woman so attractive. She is attractive in many ways that I shan't go into (unless someone twists my arm), but I was definitely taken by her waist and hips. I whipped out--no, not that--my ruler, accurate to a hundredth of an inch, and measured her dimensions on my PC monitor. Waist was 1.95 inches and hips were 2.65 inches. Her waist to hip ratio is therefore 0.734, which is within 5% of ideal.
