Okay, you may look at the above cast and see some old school names of XXX – Mike Horner, Randy Spears, Nicki Hunter, Barbara Summer, Steven St.Croix etc.

And that’s true, this film does have some actors who were getting their starts when porn was still all about the full bush, cheesy soundtracks and plots, and scripts that could have been written by Paris Hilton.

However (and this is an important point), these actors are also amongst the more talented within the genre at actually acting and delivering quality performances. This makes it a great casting choice that works for The New Neighbors, a film which attempts to continue pushing the boundaries between porn and mainstream movie entertainment.

The story revolves around the Brodie family; parents Martin and Laura (played by Mike Horner and Linda Roberts) and their kids Tiffany and Brad (Haley Page and Jack Venice), who live on an unremarkable street in an unremarkable suburb.

Things certainly take a turn for the sexier when the mysteriously seductive Az and Lily Infernato (Randy Spears and Nikki Hunter) move in across the street. Suddenly, it’s a sexual free-for-all, where curiosities are piqued and demonic decadence is unleashed.

As I mentioned earlier, The New Neighbors is one of the increasing number of adult films which is making a concerted effort to improve the script, acting and production values of XXX. You may have noticed it as well…sex is bursting into the mainstream world of entertainment (Jenna Jameson is now the paparazzi darling!), and porn is evolving into something which attempts to entertain on more than one level (the obvious level!), and cross over into more conventional entertainment.

So did newcomer Director Frank Castle hit a home run in that regard? Well, let’s say yes with a couple of reservations (which I will get to!).

I enjoyed the story, which was original and quite well crafted, and it was clear that the script was something which had considerable time invested into it. The story creates a believable background in which the sex takes place, rather than being an irrelevant afterthought, which is always a bonus if you like some substance with your fucking. The choice of cast was excellent, with the emphasis on veterans who know how to act meaning the characters were well developed and engaging.

Overall production, from the lighting to camera angles and editing was certainly on an acceptable level; except for one glaring error where you momentarily catch a glimpse of another cameraman in shot during the Nikki and Linda scene. Talk about falling asleep at the wheel…how did the producer miss that! Anyway, I was having fun with the movie, so I chose not to mark them too harshly on it. But let’s hope it doesn’t happen again, because it certainly screams amateur-hour from an otherwise professional production.

Sexually speaking, there is something for everyone. Lots of oral, lots of straight vaginal, some anal, a little girl on girl, hand jobs, masturbation, double penetration and even an orgy at the end for good measure. Once again to reflect positively on the casting choice, the sex is hot with great performances by actors who know how to deliver the goods with just the right levels of kink and gusto.

Special mention goes to the scene with Barbara Summers taking on three of the guys…as a Nun! Even though the Nun angle has been done before, this scene almost steals the show as Barbara, with her usual enthusiasm, gets down and dirty wearing nothing but her habit and crucifix. Nobody can ever say she doesn’t enjoy her work…you just can’t fake that type of fervour! I’m not generally a big rap for double penetration action, but I found it impossible not to get caught up in this one. Maybe there is something about this Nun business I need to look into…

Apart from the brief cameraman-in-shot error, the only other shortcoming I found was with this ridiculous obsession with facial cumshots! Why, oh why, is there such a need for every scene to end with the guys blowing their loads right into the pretty eyes and open mouths of the women? Here’s a unique and well made feature XXX film which is doing a great job but each scenes ends the same, and to be frank, it really pisses me off. Do something different for God’s sake!

Listen up Frank Castle, women will enjoy your films, but PLEASE extend them some common courtesy when it comes to the cumshot delivery. Enough facials! It is not believable, demeans the women and shows you are still over-catering to a male market despite more females loving XXX than ever before. Grrrr….it’s just so stupid!

Sorry, but I needed that little rant (calming down, getting back on track)...

Overall, The New Neighbors is, for the most part, a well made and very enjoyable adult film which continues the push of adding some professionalism and polish into the porn industry. Excellent story, good quality acting, slick production and some great sex combine to ensure your XXX satisfaction.
