In 2001, the original Dark Angels (also directed by Nic Andrews) was released and went onto become one of the most successful porn films of all time. And it was good, very good. Admittedly, I watched it with my boyfriend at the time and we spent as much time going at each other as we did watching the film, but from what I remember I was impressed by what was a unique example of adult film. And it definitely inspired us to a spectacularly wild romp, so that was another plus going for it!

Hence when I sat down to watch Dark Angels 2, I had high hopes. And thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed…this is a fantastic film!

The story involves vampires…hot, sexy bloodsuckers led by Draken (Barrett Blade)…trying to capture the gorgeous young Jesse (Sunny Lane) who happens to be a part of a special bloodline that will ensure their immortality. Meanwhile, they are being hunted by vampire slayer Jack Cross (hunky Dillon), who is determined to wipe them from existence.

The plot is not one which will have the Oscar judges on edge, but for a porno, it is excellent. I found myself actually getting caught up with the story and waiting in anticipation to see what would happen next (which has happened maybe twice in my porn reviewing career?!). Good action, solid special effects, an entertaining script and half decent acting make for a strong production movie wise, and the talented direction of Nic Andrews creates a dark and brooding atmosphere that emphasises the shadowy overtones of the film.

The technical aspects of the movie are outstanding, and wouldn’t be out of place in a regular cinema release. It is easy to see why Dark Angels 2 took out Best Videography and Best Editing awards; it is simply on another level than most porno’s.

Usually soundtracks are forgettable at best when it comes to adult film, but in this case, there are driving rock songs and orchestral pieces that complement the action beautifully. Even more incredibly, semi-famous name-bands like Dial 7 and the Phunk Junkezz contribute material to the score, immediately moving this film ever so slightly towards mainstream credibility.

To sum it up, I have paid a lot of money to go and see some Hollywood-made films that Dark Angels 2 destroys just on production quality and entertainment value alone (forgetting the sex for a moment!).

Okay, now for the juicy bits…the sex scenes. In keeping with the overall standard of Dark Angels 2, it is high quality. Nothing too kinky or out of the ordinary, just good hard fucking by sexy men and beautiful women. It actually makes a big change from all of the cheesy lesbian scenes, or the gonzo group action you see so often.

The first scene is between Barrett Blade, who is an absolute hunk of a man, and that sweet Latino vixen, August. Barrett looks absolutely hot in his black leather pants and mesh shirt; he fits the role of vampire King perfectly. I’ve always loved my men dark and brooding, so this scene was a big winner for me, featuring very nice action between two players who are genuinely into each other. I have to admit I was imagining myself working opposite Barrett Blade here. Great spooning and reverse cowgirl positions, and a powerful money shot onto August’s belly. Great way to start the fun!

As we enter the second scene, we find another edible stud, Tyler, playing the pleasure provider to the exquisite Destiny. Again, good looking characters and excellent chemistry between the two make for some red hot play. I especially liked the spontaneity of the action, with Destiny riding Tyler with her tube top pulled down and denim skirt pulled up giving the impression that genuine passion has well and truly taken over the pair. Tyler definitely knows how to use his fingers too; something we don’t see enough of in porn. Great lighting helps set the mood and engulfs the action in a dark and sensual atmosphere. Awesome stuff!

Next we find Tommy Gun seducing waitress Karina Kay after closing down the diner they work in for the night. I like the setting of the restaurant kitchen…it’s not something you see all too often, and injects a unique feel to the scene. Outstanding oral action provided by Tommy onto Karina in this one; he certainly can use that big tongue of his to great effect! Karina has a heavenly body which she moves to perfection whilst being taken from behind against the counter. I had the feeling in this scene that I was watching something that wouldn’t be out of place in an early Sharon Stone film, just with the extra rude bits visible. It is definitely several levels below a regular porn scene in terms of gratuity and diversity of action, but as a woman who often gets a little tired of all the bells and whistles, I really appreciated it.

Scene four features one of my all time favourites, Monica Mayhem, and the rugged Evan Stone. Special mention to Monica’s wardrobe here; black latex corset, hot pants, fishnets and thigh-high boots give her an out and out sex-charged vampish look. Just amazing…I wanted to be her! The intensity between these two is as real as it gets in porn, especially as Evan throws Monica against the wall, kisses her passionately and then drops down to tear open her fishnets and get at her tasty treasure. The screen is absolutely alight by this time, and so was I! Monica is no amateur at oral either, and I have to mention that Evan Stone has one hell of an attractive cock. She sucks that thing like she is a real vampire straining to drain every last drop from him. The fucking is first class as well. Great camera work, moody lighting, pumping soundtrack…one of the best scenes I have ever come across in porn!

The final scene is between sexy newcomer Sunny Lane, and the attractive, though slightly stiff, Dillon (I wasn’t sure if this stiffness was just to fit his character, which would be acceptable because he plays a very Wesley Snipes-Blade-like vampire killer, or if he just wasn’t feeling loose during the shoot). Sunny displays a great level of natural sensuality during the scene…it is a very attractive quality that I found disarming and charismatic. The few minutes of interaction between the two before the actual sex commences helps provide some context and chemistry which definitely helps the scene. I liked the idea of everything happening on Dillon’s Mustang…great background. This is the first time I have seen Sunny Lane in action and she seems a fantastic new talent, with style and erotic grace. The fact that she can reverse cowgirl on the hood of a car speaks volumes of her abilities! She comes off as the star of this scene, and leaves a very positive first impression.

This is a must see adult film for anyone who likes some story and style with their sex. Granted; those who like the kinky sexual variations or gonzo style will be bored out of their brains, but for those of us who enjoy some straight and classy man on woman action, then hands down this is as good as I have seen. Great looking actors with genuine chemistry and non-complicated sex set within a well made film, with an interesting story line to boot. Sound too good to be true? Check it out for yourself!
