Blonds And Brunettes

Director – Andrew Blake
Released – 2001

If you are looking for silicone enhanced blonde haired bimbos bouncing on some barely attractive guys 8 inch willy, screaming “Oh yes, Oh God, Oh yes”, then this is not the film for you.
Andrew Blake continues his homage to the feminine divine with another all-girl film, once again starring the most beautiful assortment of women found within the genre. Aria Giovanni is particularly stunning, her curves and beauty made this usually straight girl have some decidedly decadent, un-straight thoughts.
Masterfully made, Andrew Blake is first and foremost an artist. The use of black and white interlaced amongst colour, the pristine architecture creating beautiful and elegant sets, the alluring tease of the female body played out amongst the delicately passionate lovemaking between women…if you have never seen an Andrew Blake film, it is difficult to comprehend the sensual and fantasy laden world he is able to create for the viewer. I get lost within his films (in a good way), and there is not a man to be seen (which makes it extra unusual for someone who normally only enjoys porn when hot men are featured).
As usual, the soundtrack is wonderful. Raoul Valve creates a combination tribal/techno/classical score which is hypnotizing and adds such depth to the artistic flavour of the film. Seductive and powerful, the music is as good as you will ever find within adult film.
The story is a little vague (even for a Blake film), with the mesmerising Anita Blond asking Aria to become her slave. Aria refuses, but later decides this is an aspect of her sexuality that she may enjoy exploring. Along the way, we see some stunning all girl scenes which blur the erotica/porn divide and generate majestic sexual heat.
Set and filmed entirely in Rome, there is a feeling of elegance about Blonds and Brunettes. With the subtle S&D, the mild fetishism and the overall prevailing of incredible beauty, this is erotic art at its finest.
How else can you describe a film which features a scene where two women are lounging on a dining room table within a beautiful baroque hall, with one laying on her back and fondling herself, whilst the other sits beside her and eats sushi off of her belly.
Sound weird? Well, it is. But importantly it works, and the whole thing looks incredible and feels quintessentially erotic.
