One of the most amazing sexual experiences of my life was with a guy I considered, and still do, one of my best friends. We were friends from high school, went to the same university, then moved to Sydney at the same time. We were each others rock in a new city, although we had an unspoken understanding we were just friends and nothing more than that. But one night we both just felt the "twinge", and after a few champagnes in his apartment, we tore each others clothes off and had some incredibly intense sex for hours like we were destined lovers. For that one night, we were romantic, professing love and doing the most intimate sexual things with one another. IN the morning we cuddled, I got up and went to work, then the next time we saw each other a few days later we were back to best friends without missing a beat. In some ways I think our primal natures took control for that one night; we wanted to explore each other in a way we hadn't known each other. Lust took over, and our relationship has improved becuase of it. He is now enagaged and I am in a serious relationship, and we are still close friends.

I've had great sex from within most, actually all, of those categories (particularly the "yourself" choice ;-p). But I would have to say that sex with a long term partner, aka my wife, is the best, simply because we know each other so well. That includes turn ons and turn offs, the fact we know we both like it hard and passionate, the fact we love to discuss fantasies and lots of dirty talk, favourite positions etc. Once you tick all of these boxes you can really focus on the pleasure and intimacy.
