The first thing to note was this movie was made in 1996, still in the relatively early days of producers experimenting with improving the overall quality of XXX by putting more thought into storylines, filming in more exotic locations etc. Conquest is a great snapshot of what was happening at the time; in fact, it is THE quintessential standout when it comes to porn in the mid-nineties.

Jenna Jameson was absolutely catching fire around this time, and as we all know, she would go on to become the glamour name within the industry. Like most lovers of the adult genre, I get a kick out enjoying Jenna’s earlier performances. She was so beautiful, so erotic, so into each scene. Sad she would go on to become the Michael Jackson of porn…ouch! Sorry, putting my bitch to bed. Conquest showcases some of her finest work, as well as that of another XXX legend, Asia Carerra, who was also a uniquely beautiful woman and great performer.

This film is a hoot. The storyline revolves around a band of pirates rescuing one of their own from the gallows, celebrating, being chased by a pirate hunter to a tropical island, two females (Jenna and Shayla La Veaux) impersonating men to infiltrate the pirates (when Jenna’s boobs flop out during a sword fight, blowing her cover, it is hilarious!)…so on and so forth. Or something like that. I got lost early on to be honest. I appreciate the effort with the story, but geez, it just manages to string things together.

What I definitely do love about this film is that production-wise it is brilliant! It is filmed on a real ship…not a stage. That’s a first. The soundtrack, a combination style of modern trance and chanting monks reminiscent of “Enigma” (very mid-nineties!), is excellent. And the costumes and commitment to detail in making this a convincing period-styled movie is outstanding. The whole thing looks fantastic…kudos for spending the money and time to bring it all together!

This is a couple’s orientated film; I don’t think there can be any mistaking it. There is a lot of slow-mo, music playing over the top of scenes and plenty of kissing. The slow-mo can be a little frustrating at times, and I really wish you could hear the grunts and groans of the characters during all of the sex, but it wasn’t enough to turn me off the film.

Don’t let the “for couples” description deter you from checking this film out however if that generally isn’t your cup of tea. There is plenty of unique and hot action, and the group sex outnumbers the straight couple sex. A few scenes standout.

Three words…Jenna, pearls, anal. You can string them together anyway you want, but I thought that the scene between Shayla and Jenna in the Captain’s cabin was outstanding in its sensuality and originality. Hot girl on girl action, with heavy passionate kisses, and lots of fingers and tongues running all over each. Beautiful women really working the scene and each other. I haven’t seen Jenna have her bottom played with this much in any work made earlier than this, so it is somewhat of a landmark moment.

Asia Carrera and Vince Voyeur, two true professionals, turn it on in another very sexy scene. I have always enjoyed the work of Asia; her look is so unique and her performances are always believable and engaging, and this scene is no exception. She provides Vince with a truly wicked blowjob (more suction than a black hole!) before working through a variety of sex positions including some fabulous standing doggy style which accentuates her long, sexy legs and perfectly round butt. Kudos for her pussy piercing too…so often tacky, she makes it look glamorous.

The group sex scenes are wonderfully done; lots of beautiful people, hot bodies and frenzied fucking set amidst Polynesian orgies and pirate gangbangs. If you have ever found Hula dancing to be erotic, then this film is a must for you, even if the pink grass skirts made me roll my eyes. Kia is the star throughout the group scenes especially and steals the show.

Conquest features something for everyone. It is an extremely well made movie by anyone’s standards, with serviceable acting, a semblance of an interesting storyline and some beautiful stars having hot sex in exotic locations. Combined with the overall look and feel of the film, Conquest is a XXX classic.
